EMA guidance
Following up to our blog post about XEVMPD and the required use of Internet Explorer, we are commenting now on the latest updates from EMA. It is widely covered that Internet Explorer’s journey is coming to its end on 15th of June 2022. As we mentioned in our previous blog, EMA had stated that it will provide further guidance on supported browsers in early 2022 and it still says that more information will be shared during Q1 2022.

The solution in practice
Using the IE Tab extension or enabling the IE mode in Edge is fairly simple, for example following these instructions:- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Click on the ‘Settings and more’ button on the upper right corner of the window.

- Select ‘Settings’ in the drop-down menu.
- Click on the ‘Default browser’ on the left-hand side. (Don’t worry, this will not make Edge your default browser!)

- In the “Internet Explorer compatibility” section, change “Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode” from ‘Default’ to ‘Allow’.
- You’ll then need to restart the browser for the change to take effect.
- Go to EudraVigilance website.
- Click on the ‘Settings and more’ button on the upper right corner of the window.
- Select ‘Reload in Internet Explorer mode’ in the drop-down menu.

- You can now open XEVMPD (Article 57 database)

Obviously, most people in the pharmacovigilance field have already heard at least something related to the replacement of XEVMPD by SPOR, or more specifically PMS part of SPOR. While the principles of PMS (Product Management Service) will remain the same as with XEVMPD, there will be changes (let’s call them improvements) and these improvements will be connected to other parts of the ISO IDMP implementation. In the upcoming weeks Tepsivo will be posting more useful information about the current situation of ISO IDMP, EDQM Standard Terms implementation and other regulatory updates.
